Why wasn't France carved up after Napoleon was defeated?
So, when you kick off a big European conflict and end up losing, it’s pretty common to lose some land in the process. Back in 1789, France looked like this.
After a lot of fighting—cue Napoleon—just over 25 years later, it looked like this. Not much changed, really.
